Most Influential Gay and Lesbians in Hollywood

Have you ever thought of the prominent gay and lesbians in our society who almost shaped our lives in this modern period? I am stirred to deliberate my favorite five gay people, so I've compiled here a shortlist of famous LGBT public figures that made an impact in society as well as on the sphere of media.

Ellen Degeneres
"I'm a lesbian, an Aquarian, and a vegetarian."

The award-winning talk show host has been named the most "Influential Gay Woman in America". She topped out in several magazines with her wits and humanitarian endeavors. Ellen Degeneres exposed that she is a lesbian freely in an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1997.

Neil Patrick Harris
"Rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love."

In November 2006, How I Met Your Mother's Barney Stinson came out as gay openly on People magazine. TIME magazine recognized Neil Patrick Harris as one of the 100 Most Influential People in 2010. He was also received a star on the Hollywood's Walk of Fame in September 2011.

 Jodie Foster
"Being understood is not the most essential thing in life."

Although the Oscar winner Jodie Foster snubbed to talk about her sexual orientation, she finally comes out as a lesbian as she paid an emotional tribute to her longtime girlfriend film producer Cydney Bernard. They have been a couple for over 14 years. Jodie Foster was listed in 50 Most Influential Homos in Out Magazine.

Marc Jacobs
"I am a perfect being in a perfect world."

The creative director of Louis Vuitton is one of the most provocative designers of all time. Marc Jacobs placed on the 12th spot on a 2011 list "50 Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America" in a popular gay and lesbian lifestyle monthly journal called Out magazine.

Anderson Cooper
"You know, I understand why people might be interested. But I just don't talk about my personal life. It's a decision I made a long time ago, before I ever even knew anyone would be interested in my personal life."

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper ranked second as the Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America, in spite the fact that he has never come out of the closet, but he also considered having a family.
